Dancing

Dancing normally takes place throughout locations in the centre of the city of Southampton, all within walking distance of each other. Dancing will begin at 11am and continue until 4pm when all sides will join together for a mass stand outside West Quay in Above Bar.

Sites used in previous years are listed below but negotiations are ongoing about this year's dance spaces.

Dance Spot Locations

West Quay Entrance, Above Bar Street

Situated to the entrance of West Quay North, this spot is in the centre of the shopping high street so expect heavy foot traffic and a large audience.

Nuffield Theatre, Above Bar Street

Dance Spot outside the Nuffield Southampton Theatre City opposite Guildhall Square, the only dance spot situated within Southampton's Cultural Quarter.

Above Bar, North End

The northern most end of the pedestrianised area of Above Bar Street, an open area with space for dancing and audience without getting in the way of passing shoppers.

Bargate

Dance in front of Southampton's famous medieval gatehouse, a great place to dance with many people walking through and watching. The best place to dance on the north side where there is a paved area that is reasonably level.

St Michael's Square

The dance spot is in the shadow of St Michael's Church, the oldest building still in use in Southampton. The spot here is part of the Southampton Heritage Day.
